Brand and campaign specific.

What are hash tags?

A Hashtag —symbol (#)—is a type of metadata tag used on social networks such as Twitter and other micro blogging services. It lets users apply dynamic, user-generated tagging that helps other users easily find messages with a specific theme or content.

Users create and use hashtags by placing an octothorpe (also called a number sign, or pound sign) # usually in front of a word or unspaced phrase in a message.

The hashtag may contain letters, digits, and underscores. Searching for that hashtag yields each message that someone has tagged with it.

A hashtag archive is consequently collected into a single stream under the same hashtag.[ For example, on the photo-sharing service Instagram, the hashtag #bluesky allows users to find all the posts that have been tagged using that hashtag.

Why Hastags are impotant?

Hashtags play a crucial role in developing interest in your social media accounts and are used on a number of social media platforms, most commonly, Twitter and Instagram. Social media which uses Hashtags

Hashtags were first widely used on Twitter, but they have become common on other social media platforms as well including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google Plus and Pinterest.

Social media platforms are generally in competition with each other in terms of user numbers. However, they are united when it comes to how their users express sentiment or put up a single front: most of them use hashtags.

Hashtags are words or key phrases preceeded by a pound (#) symbol and are used to gather similarly-themed posts under one umbrella. For example, at the height of the 2012 Olympics, the leading hashtag was # Olympics or, more controversially, #NBCFail.

Where can you find Hashtags?

Simply type your hashtag into the app's search bar, and then select “tags” from the dropdown menu. You'll then be able to see all of the top hashtags that are closely related to your own hashtag, revealing additional ways to reach, monitor, and engage with your community

On any hashtag page, right above the “Top” and “Recent” tabs, you'll find a list of related hashtags that you can scroll through by swiping left. This is a great way to find relevant hashtags that might be a bit more niche.
